Saturday the 21st September
Ok so we do some investigation to find out what the go is from some of the other pilots here. Most have been here before. So they get up at 4:30am have breeky and get to the field to prep the aircraft for an early take off at day break, around 6:00am.
The airfield is a 15 minute walk via a short cut track through the scrub. We decide 4:30 is too early for us so set the alarm for 5. This proves to be ok as we are ready to go before day break.
The Southerly is still blowing and it is as dry as. Apparently we need a sea breeze and they all say when there is a Glory we are mopping the dew off the wings. definitely not doing that today so not promising.
We all launch and head for the coast. No cloud. So about turn to head south to Adels Grove and Lawn Hill National Park. This is about an hours flight.
It was so hot we decided to go for a canoe trip up the gorge. I had a swim, the others chickened out.
It was really hot when we left so had to thermal to get height. Spot the motor glider below.
We headed back to Burketown via Doomagee and did a bit of gliding on the way home. Got up to 8,000ft.
